Lew Friedland
Lew has been active in the commercial real estate investment and development business for over thirty-five years. Mr. Friedland currently serves as Managing Partner of Miramar Industrial and is a Senior Advisor to Mileway, the largest owner of last mile logistics real estate assets in Europe. He is a Board Member of Rentable Technologies, Inc. and an Advisor to PredictAP. Mr. Friedland was a Managing Director at Colony Capital, Inc., a global real estate and investment management firm, beginning in December 2014, where he managed and oversaw Colony Capital’s industrial business including the Colony Industrial Fund which was sold to Blackstone in December 2019.
Prior to joining Colony Capital, Mr. Friedland was the founder and a Managing Partner of Cobalt Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused on acquiring, managing and developing industrial properties, from April 2002 until its acquisition by Colony Capital in December 2014, where he managed and oversaw the management team and the day-to-day operations of the business. From June 1997 to May 2001, Mr. Friedland also served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of American Industrial Properties REIT, a publicly-traded industrial real estate investment trust, from April 1998 to May 2001 and as Vice President and Chief Investment Officer from May 1997 to April 1998. Mr. Friedland was a founding partner of Crimson Partners, an investment firm engaged in the acquisition and development of real estate assets, from June 1992 to May 1997. From September 1988 to May 1992, Mr. Friedland was at Trammell Crow Company, a commercial real estate development and investment company, most recently serving as Division Partner and Managing Director, where he was responsible for the company’s development, leasing, and property management activities in central Virginia.
Mr. Friedland currently serves as a national board member of the I Have A Dream Foundation, which empowers children from under-resourced communities to succeed in school, college, and career by providing academic, social, and emotional support from elementary school through college, along with postsecondary tuition assistance. In addition, he is Board Chair of the local Dallas IHDF affiliate. Mr. Friedland holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School.
